Eastern Petroleum Corp. said on Wednesday it signed a cooperation agreement with the GAZ Group, giving the local oil retailer the exclusive rights to distribute the Russian company’s light commercial vehicles in the Philippines.

In a statement, Eastern Petroleum said the agreement also gave it the exclusive rights to sell Gazelle Next 17-seater minibus and Gazelle Next Cityline 20-seater bus.

It will also provide after-sales service for the GAZ Group’s light commercial vehicles in the Philippines.

GAZ Group is one of the largest commercial vehicle manufacturers in Russia and part of one of Russia’s leading diversified industrial group’s Basic Element.

“The companies agreed that the GAZ Group would supply in the Philippines reliable and modern Gazelle Next buses,” Eastern Petroleum said, adding that the vehicles fully meet the requirements of the government’s fleet modernization program.

It said Gazelle Next is a line of light commercial vehicles that combine high functionality and modern technical solutions. Its range includes trucks, utility vehicles, vans and minibuses. Buses in the line are equipped with diesel, gasoline or gas engines.

The agreement was signed by Christian Kremer, GAZ Group senior vice president for sales and marketing, and Fernando L. Martinez, founder, Eastern Petroleum chairman and chief executive, at the international exhibition of commercial vehicles in Moscow.1
